Thanks Jon! I should be back to work on it tomorrow unless I have too much to drink after the Saints game!
Nice work, very clean! Im just finishing my 65 stock restore. Yep, stock is great.
Is your paint L360 (1 or 2)? Single stage or base clear? Can I ask where you got the paint? The shade is very nice if it is L360.
Thanks! The color is L360, although I don't know the difference between 1 and 2. I have sen that on color charts, but I have no idea. This is a base / clear job and I got the paint here in Vegas at DeAngelos on Desert Inn across from SoCal Speed shop. You cot any pics of your resto?
More Pictures..You Bet! More then you may want to look at

Bug #1 is an original 65 purchased in 64 by my parents, and then given to me. Bug #2 is the newly restored 65, most weeks work is documented in the pictures.
I had a single stage paint put on bug #2, no clear, so its a bit different shade. I think I prefer the 2 stage.
Nice work on your bug, very clean and thorough. You must have done this before.
Say, can I "bug" you for a couple L360 stickers when you get them?
Beautiful work. That shade almost looks like Gulf blue, interesting. Who did your headliner? I been trying to get the nerve to do mine myself, but I doubt I will.
That is a big 10-4 on the sticker - I'll let you know when I get them made.

Great on the L360 Stickers, I appreciate that.
Dont tell me Gulf Blue, it makes me queazy . I do wish it was a bit different of a shade or I used a base clear for a more vibrant color.
I did the headliner at home, first one ever. I did the back window surround first and you can see a few wrinkles on the lower corners. I didnt clue into using a heat gun on the material first before glueing it on the back window, thats the secret. The rest came out well by heating the material a bit to allow it to streatch and then glue it down over odd curves. You do need to remove any shipping creases/folds from the headliner with a warm iron and towel before you put it up or you end up streatching it a bit at a time over a couple weeks to try and remove them (see my clips pictures of the headliner install). Its a slow methodical job but not difficult, and based on your workmanship in the photos I think you can easily do it. I used contact cement, worked GREAT and held very well on first stick.
You should really give it a try, its not difficult, just very specific and you need to be methodical and dont try to rush it. Mine was done over 3 weeks time.
Where are you at in Washington? I get up to Seattle and Gig Harbor pretty regularly, would love to come see the cars!
Im in Bellevue a few miles from where I-405 and I-90 freeways intersect. If you are passing by it would be great if you stopped by to see the Bugs and talk VW's. If you do plan to pass through the area, email me at pbjensengmail.com and I will send you my address (dont want to post it here).
I had the body work and paint on the bug done by Pro Volks in Anacortis Washington(Nate M), just a few miles before Gig Harbor.
